Bangka Belitung, Lampung, West Kalimantan, and East Kalimantan
ICCO Cooperation together with Verstegen and PT CAN are involved in the SpiceUp consortium. SpiceUp is one of the projects under the Geodata for Agriculture and Water (G4AW) programme funded by the Netherlands Space Office to improve food security in developing countries by using satellite data.
SpiceUp aims to provide geo-data based information services to 100,000 pepper farmers in three main producing areas in Indonesia (Lampung, Bangka Belitung, West Kalimantan, and East Kalimantan). Through these services the goal is to increase production, income, food security, optimize water, and reduce inputs of fertilizer and pesticides.
SpiceUp provides agriculture related satellite data (i.e. weather and soil moisture) and tailored GAP recommendations that are specific to a farm’s location. The product that will be sold by farmers will be traceable in the sustainable tracing system. SpiceUp service is available via a mobile application.
